All Sai devotees throughout the world know that although Shri Shirdi Sai Baba, the most eminent among the Spiritual asters and Avatars of the 19th and 20th centuries, had left or His Heavenly abode shedding His mortal coil on the 15th October, 1918 at Shirdi, His compassionate divine grace and help have been coming to those who remember His Divine Name in the hour of their need. Therefore, His popularity as "Sub ka Malik Ek" (Master or One God of All) has been spreading all over the globe, like wild fire, on its own. Shirdi Sai Baba Temples have come up and are still being established at countless places not only in India but in many far off countries like Canada, U.S.A., U.K., Australia, Singapore, Fiji and some African countries as well and people of all races are getting more and more drawn towards His divine magnetic Holy Personality.

It is in this very spiritual context that this book 'Rare Messages From Shri Shirdi Sai Baba As God' is being brought out for the information and spiritual enlightenment and benefit of all devotees and spiritual seekers of all faiths in all countries. It contains those 77 rare and most precious discourses or messages given by Shri Shirdi Sai Baba as God to an earnest Parsi sadhaka (spiritual seeker) Yogi Minocher K. Spencer of Indian origin in his meditation sessions at the altar of meditation room in his house in Karachi during the period from 3rd November, 1952 to 18th February, 1953.

These are the rarest of the rare and the finest spiritual discourses or messages given by Shri Shirdi Sai Baba as God Himself from the Heavenly plane to Sh. Spencer, an earnest seeker of God realization, 34 years after He (Sai Baba) completed His Avataric career at Shirdi and ascended to Heaven.

These messages constituted the crucially important and unique spiritual memoirs of Spencer's 'How I Found God', which he wrote at the spiritual command of Shri Shirdi Sai Baba. The title of that book manuscript was given by God Sai Baba Himself who used to appear before him in the Astral Body almost daily in his (Spencer's) altar room, specifically to dictate these great discourses. God had dictated to Spencer his soul's biography 'Romance of A Soul' which was a thrilling story of all his three human births on this planet - first as Petricio ( 1213-1349), a great Italian Catholic iterant monk and forceful preacher who founded the famous Order of Friars and brought thousands to Christ's fold; the soul took second birth as an illiterate poor Hindu woman in South India, whose marriage to a rather rough and cruel man double her age was a bed of thorns, but she had dedicatedly and selflessly served the local poor community and was held virtually as a goddess. The soul's third and the last birth was as Minocher K. Spencer in a Parsi (Zoroastrian) family in Pune on 4th October, 1888. Minocher K. Spencer had migrated to Karachi city of Pakistan before India's Partition in August, 1947.

In its third and the last human birth, Spencer's soul was solely and firmly determined to achieve God realization. Therefore, God had, from the moment of his birth, placed him in the charge of the great Spirit Master Rishi Ram Ram of Higher Spiritual Plane to train him spiritually so that his soul's ardent yearning to see God face to face and thus achieve God realization· might be finally fulfilled in this last birth. The Spirit Master Rishi Ram Ram used to train and guide Spencer daily till 11th May, 1949, on which date (Shri Shirdi) Sai Baba Himself as God took over the charge of his spiritual training by giving this message to him in his meditation:

"Yes, I am Sai Baba. I was with you all the time while you were sitting absorbed in silence in thoughts of God. I have come to tell you that I have taken over your charge from Ram Ram and you will now have to follow Me completely. Concentrate on My picture and I shall reward you with joy."

Prior to this, the Spirit Master Rishi Ram had on 10th April, 1949 itself told Spencer:

" ... you have passed all the stages for which I was competent to help you. You don't need the Master's (My) help any more. God alone can now help you ..I have taken you to the very end of the journey. It is now for God (Sai Baba) to take you in."

     The spread of the name and fame of Shri Sai Baba of Shirdi within the last two decades is a phenomenon by itself. From 1999 onwards a number of websites were created in the name of Baba, the world over. In the year 2000, I visited Chicago to inaugurate the Sai Utsav in the month of November. This event attracted a lot of devotees from all over the world including hundreds of families from the US, Latin America, Canada and UK, and by His grace acted as the seed of the creation of an effective world forum of Sai devotees. It was followed by similar events and conferences in Sydney, Australia in 2001, Johannesburg and Nairobi in Africa in 2003 where an increasing number of devotees asked me questions regarding Sai Baba and his message. This trend continued over the years through the internet, till I decided to come up with a publication that would lend greater clarity about His message to His devotees as well as to those with a religious bent of mind.     We are very glad to introduce another great book Shirdi Che Sai Baba (English) originally written by Dr. Keshav Bhagwant Gawankar in Marathi and translated into English by Mrs. Sangeeta Joshi. It is a must read book for those who wish to know about Lord Sai Baba very closely and in detail. It has been translated into Gujarati too and it is available for sale too.

   Dr. Annasaheb Keshav Gawankar was inspired by the famous Palaye-Shashtri, to render discourses and perform Kirtans. One day Shashtri told him, "As you have mastered the art of Kirtan, you can also write biography of Sai Baba in an interesting way".

   In 1964, one day, Dr. Annasaheb retired from the day's word and went to bed as usual. He was fast asleep. After midnight his sleep was interrupted and he was in a half-awake-state. He clearly heard Sai baba say to him, "Come on, get up and start writing My stories." Dr. Annasaheb was quite sure that it was Baba's voice. He immediately rose from the bed. After a sincere prayer to Baba he started writing the biography of Baba. He noted the time. It was 1:30 am (after midnight). He went into a trance and started writing and did not stop till 10:00 O'clock in the morning. During that short span of time he had completed many chapters of this book "Shirdi Che Sai Baba". Originally the book was in Marathi.

   Sai Baba got this 'Seva' (service) done by Dr. Annasaheb. The biography was completed in due course. But Annsaheb was worried about its publication. He had no funds for spending on it. Sai Baba is still alive in "Sanjivan Samadhi" and he obviates the difficulties of His devotees. One day Shri Ramanlal Patel came to Dr. KB.Gawankar (Annasaheb), and offered him Rs. 4000/- for the publication of the book. Shortly thereafter, it was published and was quickly soldou at the hands of devotees (First Marathi Edition was published in 1966). After about forty year, by the tireless efforts of his son Dr. Sainath Keshav Gawankar, the second edition was published in 2006.

About Author

     In 1918 Keshav with his parents and aunty visited Shirdi with a packet of pedhas as fulfillment of a vow taken five years before. There Baba blessed Keshav. He gripped the tuft of his hair and placed his head on His own toes. Then He asked for two paise from Keshav. It was a mock give-and-take. These two paise were faith and patience. He then removed His 'Kafni' and gave it to Keshav as a gift which is still preserved in his residence at Kurla. Baba then through dreams introduced him to his Moksha Guru Dr. Trimbak Vitthal Samant of Kurla, also known as Bhau Samant.

   Under his guru's guidance he enriched his spiritual life and at the same time discharged righteously his household duties. He was himself a saint. To the many who knew him, he was a source of strength and solace. From a politician to a policeman, rich and poor were treated alike, with warmeth and affection, when they came to him with their problems. To him every individual was a temple of God. Their problems got solved and always his predictions came true because of the guidance of Lord Sai Baba before Whom he presented their problems. Being thus in constant communion with Sai Baba, he eradicated the mental pain and physical infirmities of his devotees who came for his advice and sought his blessings. To a few of his deserving devotees he gave mantras for Naam Japa, thereby advancing their spiritual progress. It was during his tenure as the president of the Shirdi Sansthan that Sai baba's statue was installed in the main Samadhi Mandir.

   He was also the editor of 'SAI LEELA' magazine. he was also the author of other two books in Marathi namely "SHILADHI" (Shirdi) and "Sai Baba Hach Chamatkar" (Sai Baba, A Miracle)

   He visited Shirdi very frequently and stayed at Shama's house. During his stay, Shama use to narrate many incidents regarding Baba's miracles and other episodes in his day-to-day interaction with Sai Baba. Here, it should be noted that Madhavrao Deshpande alias Shama was to Lord Sai Baba, as Arjuna was to Lord Krishna. Also, Dr. Annasaheb Keshav Gawankar has included in this Book, many such narrations of other first-ranking devotees of Sai Baba with whom he was fortunate enough to interact.

   On going through the various chapters of ths Book the reader will get a deeper insight in Sai Baba's daily routine, His code of conduct, words of eternal wisdom and also the innumerable Leelas or Miracles Baba performed. Even today, lakhs of His devotees are experiencing His presence and they have realised that, "Sai Baba is truly a Helping Hand, To the most needy and a troubled man".

However he had deep emotional and spiritual ties with some of his devotees.Although Baba rarely left Shirdi in his physical form but he did visit the homes of the Dengle family in Neemgaon and the Saand family in Rahata. He went to some of his devotees place in the form of bas-relief images. The descendents of these devotees have preserved these images and venerated them till today. They were blessed not only in this life, but also for many past lives, that they had the good fortune of welcoming Baba into their homes. This book describes the homes of many of his devotees in and around Shirdi. Their homes and lives are described vividly so that we too can have a virtual tour of them and can partake a little of the ambrosia and fragrance of Baba`s love. Baba also had deep ties with devotees who resided in Shirdi. They eagerly waited for him to pass by their homes as he wandered through the villages so that the dust from his feet would sanctify their homes and their mundane lives. This book transports one to the bygone days and describes the various leelas of Baba from which valuable lessons can be derived.
